This Privacy Policy explains how Fun Gentleman ("CultureSync", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use CultureSync Personal (personal.culturesync.app) and CultureSync Business (business.culturesync.app) (together, the "Service").

Who we are

The Service is operated by Fun Gentleman, which acts as the data controller. For any privacy question or request, contact support@culturesync.app.

Information we collect

Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
Subscription & billing — your subscription status and a Stripe customer/subscription identifier. We do not store your card details; card payments are processed entirely by Stripe.
Profile & preferences — in CultureSync Personal, details you enter (such as first name, the cultures you select, relationship stage, and preferences) are stored primarily in your browser's local storage on your device; limited account data is stored on our server.
Technical data — standard server logs (e.g., IP address, request time) generated when you use the Service.

How we use your information

To provide, maintain, and secure the Service (create your account, keep you signed in across devices, deliver the content you are entitled to).
To process subscriptions and payments through Stripe.
To respond to your requests and provide support.
To comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Service and process your subscription), consent (where required), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service), and legal obligation where applicable.

Sharing & processors

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf:

Stripe — payment processing (see Stripe's privacy policy).
DreamHost — hosting and database infrastructure.

We may disclose information where required by law.

Cookies & local storage

The Service uses your browser's local storage to keep your session and app preferences on your device. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Data retention

We keep account and subscription data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service and meet legal and accounting obligations. You may request deletion at any time (see your rights below). Encrypted database backups are retained for a limited period (currently 14 days) and then automatically deleted.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email support@culturesync.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our infrastructure and processors are located in the United States, and your data will be stored and processed there. Where required for users outside the United States, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) apply to international transfers.

Children

The Service is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated to you.
